“Situando el Cimiento para
el Futuro”
“Laying the Foundation for the Future”
1 Tim. 6:19
“In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation
for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
INTRO:
The Lord Jesus Christ mentioned the importance of calculating the cost of
building. He also said that we had
to make sure that we had enough for building as for the foundation.
As we enter into this New Year: have we considered, not how much do we
have in our banking account, how overweight we are or how many friends are we
counting on? But, how is our
spiritual building, what have I built on, what level of spirituality are we in
or what do I really want?
I.
WHY SHOULD WE
LAY UP TREASURES
A. Where your treasure is, there your heart will be
1)
Mat. 6:21 “For
where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
“Porque donde esté vuestro
tesoro, allí estará también vuestro corazón.”
B. Your heart is suppose to be in God
1)
Luc. 10:27 “He answered: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your
neighbor as yourself.’”
C.
You
have to make priorities
1)
Mat 6:24 ““No
one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he
will be devoted to the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve both God
and Money.”
“Ninguno
riquezas.”
II.
WHAT KIND OF
TREASURES
A.
One that will make a firm foundation
1)
1 Tim. 6:19 “…firm foundation…”
“…buen fundamento…”
B. One of good material
1)
1 Cor. 3:12 “If
any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay
or straw,”
“Y
heno, hojarasca,”
C. One that will not burn
1)
1 Cor. 3:13 “his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to
light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each
man’s work.”
III.
WHAT WILL
THAT FOUNDATION BE?
A. No other but Jesus Christ himself
1)
1 Cor.
3:11 “For no one can lay any
foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
B. Building upon that foundation is important
1)
1 Cor. 3:10 “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and
someone else is building on it.
But each one should be careful how he builds.”
C. Not building on what someone else has built
1)
Rom. 15:20 “It has always been my ambition to preach the gospel where Christ was not
known, so that I would not be building on someone else’s foundation.”
