I.                   HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM

a.       Prayer

                                                  i.      The need to pray to the Father – Lu 11:2 “He said to them, “When you pray, say: “ ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.” “Y les dijo: Cuando oréis, decid: Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre. Venga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra.”

II.                BEING OBEDIENT TO HIM

a.      Absolute obedience is due – Mat. 7:21 ““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” “No todo el que me dice: Señor, Señor, entrará en el reino de los cielos, sino el que hace la voluntad de mi Padre que está en los cielos.”

                                                  i.      Mat 26:42 “He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” “Otra vez fue, y oró por segunda vez, diciendo: Padre mío, si no puede pasar de mí esta copa sin que yo la beba, hágase tu voluntad.

b.      Doing His work –

                                                  i.      Mat. 11:25-27 “At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure. “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” “En aquel tiempo, respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas de los sabios y de los entendidos, y las revelaste a los niños. Sí, Padre, porque así te agradó. Todas las cosas me fueron entregadas por mi Padre; y nadie conoce al Hijo, sino el Padre, ni al Padre conoce alguno, sino el Hijo, y aquel a quien el Hijo lo quiera revelar.

c.       Trusting in Him

                                                  i.      Ex. 33:17 “And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.” “Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: También haré esto que has dicho, por cuanto has hallado gracia en mis ojos, y te he conocido por tu nombre.

III.             THE BLESSING OF THIS RELATIONSHIP

a.       He knows our secrets

                                                  i.       – Mat 6:4 “so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” “para que sea tu limosna en secreto; y tu Padre que ve en lo secreto te recompensará en público.”

b.      He knows our needs

                                                  i.      Mat. 6:8, 9 No os hagáis, pues, semejantes a ellos; porque vuestro Padre sabe de qué cosas tenéis necesidad, antes que vosotros le pidáis. Vosotros, pues, oraréis así: Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre.”  “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. “This, then, is how you should pray: “ ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

c.       He wants to give us things

                                                  i.       – Mat 7:11 “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! “Pues si vosotros, siendo malos, sabéis dar buenas dádivas a vuestros hijos, ¿cuánto más vuestro Padre que está en los cielos dará buenas cosas a los que le pidan?”

d.      He wants to reveal us  things

e.       Doing His will, is Him being our Father

                                                  i.       – mat. 12:50 “For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” “Porque todo aquel que hace la voluntad de mi Padre que está en los cielos, ése es mi hermano, y hermana, y madre.”

f.       He is a forgiving Father

                                                  i.       – Mar 11:25 “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” “En aquel tiempo, respondiendo Jesús, dijo: Te alabo, Padre, Señor del cielo y de la tierra, porque escondiste estas cosas de los sabios y de los entendidos, y las revelaste a los niños.”

g.      Doing the work of the Father

                                                  i.       – Jn 5:17 “Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I, too, am working.” “Y Jesús les respondió: Mi Padre hasta ahora trabaja, y yo trabajo.”

h.      Doing what the Father does

                                                  i.       – Jn 5:19 “Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.” “Respondió entonces Jesús, y les dijo: De cierto, de cierto os digo: No puede el Hijo hacer nada por sí mismo, sino lo que ve hacer al Padre; porque todo lo que el Padre hace, también lo hace el Hijo igualmente.”

i.        The Father show us all things

                                                  i.       – Jn 5:20 “For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.” “Porque el Padre ama al Hijo, y le muestra todas las cosas que él hace; y mayores obras que estas le mostrará, de modo que vosotros os maravilléis.”

j.        The Father will give us what we ask in Jesus name

                                                  i.      Jn. 14:13 “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.” “Y todo lo que pidiereis al Padre en mi nombre, lo haré, para que el Padre sea glorificado en el Hijo.”
