Col. 3:18-21

Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.” “Casadas, estad sujetas a vuestros maridos, como conviene en el Señor. Maridos, amad a vuestras mujeres, y no seáis ásperos con ellas. Hijos, obedeced a vuestros padres en todo, porque esto agrada al Señor. Padres, no exasperéis a vuestros hijos, para que no se desalienten.”

I.                   HUSBANDS

1.      Gn. 2:18 “It is not good for man to be alone”

A.    Man needs a family

2.      Eph 5:23 “For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.” “porque el marido es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia, la cual es su cuerpo, y él es su Salvador.”

A.    Being the head involves all the package

3.      Eph. 5:25 “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her” “Maridos, amad a vuestras mujeres, así como Cristo amó a la iglesia, y se entregó a sí mismo por ella,”

A.    Love is not just a four letter word

4.      Eph. 5:28 “In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.” “Así también los maridos deben amar a sus mujeres como a sus mismos cuerpos. El que ama a su mujer, a sí mismo se ama.”

A.    Love take priority of self

5.      Eph. 5:29 “After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— “porque nadie aborreció jamás a su propia carne, sino que la sustenta y la cuida, como también Cristo a la iglesia,

II.                WIVES

1.      Submissive to husband

A.    Eph. 5:22 “Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.”  “Las casadas estén sujetas a sus propios maridos, como al Señor;”

2.      Respect your husband

A.    Eph. 5:33 “However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband” “Por lo demás, cada uno de vosotros ame también a su mujer como a sí mismo; y la mujer respete a su marido.”

3.      Trained to love

A.    Titis 2:4 “Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,” “que enseñen a las mujeres jóvenes a amar a sus maridos y a sus hijos,”

III.             PARENTS

1.      Love

A.    Titus 2:4 “Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children,”

2.      Bring them to Christ

A.    Mat 19:13-14 “Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” “Entonces le fueron presentados unos niños, para que pusiese las manos sobre ellos, y orase; y los discípulos les reprendieron. Pero Jesús dijo: Dejad a los niños venir a mí, y no se lo impidáis; porque de los tales es el reino de los cielos.”

3.      Instruct them in God’s Word

A.    Dt. 4:9 “Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them.” “Por tanto, guárdate, y guarda tu alma con diligencia, para que no te olvides de las cosas que tus ojos han visto, ni se aparten de tu corazón todos los días de tu vida; antes bien, las enseñarás a tus hijos, y a los hijos de tus hijos.”

4.      Not provoke them

A.    Eph. 6:4 “Fathers, do not exasperte your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” “Y vosotros, padres, no provoquéis a ira a vuestros hijos, sino criadlos en disciplina y amonestación del Señor.”

IV.             CHILDREN

1.      Honor our Parents

A.    Ex. 20:12 ““Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.” “Honra a tu padre y a tu madre, para que tus días se alarguen en la tierra que Jehová tu Dios te da.”

2.      Attend to their teachings

A.    Prov. 1:8, 9 “Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.” “Oye, hijo mío, la instrucción de tu padre, Y no desprecies la dirección de tu madre; Porque adorno de gracia serán a tu cabeza, Y collares a tu cuello.”

3.      Take care of parents

A.    1 Tim 5:4 “But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God.” “Pero si alguna viuda tiene hijos, o nietos, aprendan éstos primero a ser piadosos para con su propia familia, y a recompensar a sus padres; porque esto es lo bueno y agradable delante de Dios.
