AVOIDING THE ANOINTING TO DEPART

Judges 16:20

I.                   GUIDED BY SPIRITUAL EYES AND NOT NATURAL EYES

A.     “Samson went down to Timnath and saw a woman….”

1)This gentile city was only 4 miles from his home

2)”Oil and water don’t mix”

B.     Ec. 11:9”Be happy, young man, while you are young, and let

your heart give you joy in the days of your youth. Follow the

ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that

for all these things God will bring you to judgment. “

C.     1 Jn. 2:16”For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, in not of the Father, but is of the world”

D.    The lust of the eyes

1)Lust for women; Mat. 5:28

2)Eyes of adultery; 2 Pet 2:14; Rom. 1:18-28

3)Covetousness; Psalms 10:8

4)All things desired; Eccl. 2:10

5)Idol worship; Ez 6:9

6)All kinds of evil; Mat 6:23

 

II.                BEING SENSITIVE TO GOD’S WORD AND NOT IGNORE IT

A.     Samson’s vows of an Nazarite

1)Abstain from wine or grape

2)Not cut his hair

3)Never approach a dead body

B.     Samson’s direct opposition of the Word of God

1)Married a gentile woman – Ex. 34:16; Dt. 7:3

   (a)Woman not maiden nor virgen – she had been with man

2)Touching a corspe – Judges 14:9

3)Not telling doesn’t makes it right!

4)Feast of drinking and dining for 7 days

(a)the jewish tradition was at the groom’s house, Samson had it at the woman’s house

(b)his parents sanction drinking at their home because of

the nazarites vow

                    5)Jawbone to kill 1000 men – 15:15

                        (a)doing good doesn’t mean right!

 

III.             NOT PLAYING WITH ONE’S WEAKNESSES

A.     2 Tim. 2:22”Flee also youthful lust; but follow righteousness,

                     faith, chairty,peace, with them that call on the Lord out

of a pure heart.

B.     Visited a harlot, 16:1

C.     His love for Delilah

1)She wasn’t sincere

1.      Entered into agreement with men to commit sin

2.      Committed adultery

3.      Did evil for money

4.      Deception and plotting the death of a man

5.      Taking advantage of a man’s love to betray him

6.      Taking advantage of a man in his weakness

7.      Warring against God and seeking the overthrow of an

Anointed one of God

A.     He never knew when the Lord left him

1)The Lord will not tolerate our boastfulness James 4:6

2)He will make us reap what we sow – Gal. 6:7

3)All honor belongs to the Lord Dt. 8:17, 18

4)His anointing is to be appreciated

5) His anointing is to fresh –Psalms 92:10
